Cody Regional Health AHU Replacement Phase 2 was a highly coordinated, multi-phased modernization project completed within an active hospital environment. The project removed six indoor air handling units and replaced them with four new indoor air handlers, including the consolidation of two pairs of units into single replacement units in two locations. To maintain hospital operations and minimize downtime, temporary air handling units, filters, fans, supporting ductwork, and power connections were provided and tied into the existing system so patient care areas remained in service throughout construction.
Because the mechanical spaces were tight and the replacement work required precise integration with existing conditions, the team utilized 3D scanning to capture field dimensions and developed as-built ductwork models in Revit to support accurate fabrication and installation. The upgraded systems included new state-of-the-art controls, all new variable frequency drives, new heating and cooling components, and a heat recovery section in one unit. The project also included the replacement of three hydronic pumps to accommodate new AHU coil flows, along with related power, fire alarm, and fire sprinkler modifications. By converting the hospital from constant volume units to variable volume units, the project improved operational efficiency, enhanced system performance, and positioned the facility for long-term reliability.
