Glacier International Airport

Project Overview

Exciting progress has been made at Glacier International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, MT, with its concessions improvement project. Significant focus was placed on enhancing both pre- and post-security concession spaces. This renovation introduced a unique, localized traveler experience with expanded dining and shopping options, including local favorites such as Flathead Mercantile and the Goat Haunt Saloon.

The extensive infrastructure and concession fit-out was managed with comprehensive engineering oversight. ACE’s scope included full engineering design for the fit-out of these new spaces. This included detailed layouts and specifications for HVAC equipment and ductwork, specialized kitchen hood ventilation and exhaust systems, air terminals, and temperature control devices. On the plumbing side, the scope covered the design of plumbing fixtures, domestic water/sanitary piping systems, and the installation of grease interceptors where required. The electrical design encompassed lighting design and controls, power and receptacle layouts, and data device installation. The engineers meticulously coordinated the design with a specialized food service consultant who specified the kitchen equipment and provided the essential mechanical and electrical requirements for each piece of equipment, ensuring seamless integration and operation of the new dining venues.  This improvement helps solidify FCA’s role as a major gateway to the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park, promising a higher quality of service and a true Montana welcome.
