Missoula Bone & Joint has expanded its healthcare footprint with the addition of a new two-story, 31,949-square-foot ambulatory surgery center, strategically built adjacent to its existing 43,307-square-foot orthopedic and outpatient clinic. This freestanding, AAAHC-certified facility was developed to meet the growing regional demand for outpatient joint replacement and spine surgeries, offering a modern, patient-centered environment.
The new center features four state-of-the-art operating rooms, enabling up to 4,000 outpatient procedures annually—significantly increasing surgical capacity. Designed with sustainability in mind, the building incorporates a high-performance envelope with super insulation, a ground source heat pump, and 160 solar panels, collectively reducing energy consumption by approximately 24%. The design implemented LED lighting throughout with integrated daylight harvesting, as well as critical power distribution systems to ensure backup power during an emergency.
The facility also integrates a comprehensive suite of orthopedic services under one roof, including walk-in urgent care, digital X-ray, MRI, physical and occupational therapy, bone health services (DXA), wellness programs, and a durable medical equipment (DME) retail space. This holistic approach ensures convenience and continuity of care for patients.
This expansion represents a forward-thinking investment in local healthcare infrastructure—blending sustainable design, operational efficiency, and an enhanced patient experience into a single, modern orthopedic and surgical destination.
