Montana State University Billings – Life Science Building

Project Overview

MSU Billings’ Life Sciences Building included the addition and partial renovation of the existing 3-story science building originally built in 1947. The addition included a new 3 story 37,000 square foot building with lab, classroom, and office space. The renovated space included 21,000 square feet of existing classrooms and office areas. The goal was to incorporate the complex of three buildings, science and allied health classrooms, curriculum, and technology into a single state-of-the-art facility. Classrooms, laboratories, an auditorium and offices combine to create an environment for learning and progressing through a rewarding college experience. The facility includes the newest features, including smart board technology in each classroom, a new greenhouse onsite and cutting-edge labs.

The building was designed to comply with the State of Montana’s high-performance building standards and achieve LEED Silver certification.

ACE design services included HVAC, Plumbing, Temperature Control, Electrical and Fire Systems, and included Energy Modeling and LEED Analysis and Attainment Services.
